“I want to write about the International Conference on Geo-Disasters and Construction Engineering (ICGCE 2024), held at the University of Waterloo, Canada. The organizing and scientific committees did an excellent job preparing for this significant international event. Many international experts gathered to share their knowledge and experiences in geotechnical engineering. I delivered my keynote lecture online, as the conference had a hybrid structure, allowing both in-person and virtual participation. The technical infrastructure was excellent for both online and offline communication. The organizing committee also arranged a visit for participants to Niagara Falls, an international natural heritage site of Canada and the USA.
I think such types of international conferences must continue in the real future . I want to express deep thanks to Dr. Suman Manandhar who did an impressive job for preparation and organizing of this international forum in Canada as well.“

“The International Conference on Geo-Disaster and Construction Engineering (ICGCE) took place on June 7-8, 2024, featured myself as the keynote speaker. The hybrid format gathered experts from academia and industry to discuss sustainability and resilience in disaster management. Emphasizing human-centered responses, the conference addressed geological disaster analyses and risk management. With the rising frequency of natural disasters, ICGCE provided a vital platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, paving the way for future innovations in disaster prevention and recovery.
I look forward to collaborating more with the team and wish for a huge success in transferring the knowledge and technology between Japan, Canada and other continents.
